Review: Planet Dragos by Thea Harrison

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Thea Harrison comes the final novella featuring Pia and Dragos…

Pia’s latest pregnancy has become a daily challenge, her relationship with Dragos strained with argument. That hasn’t stopped them from achieving a compromise and traveling to Las Vegas to celebrate their friend Rune’s wedding to his mate Carling.

From the moment they arrive, the trip goes awry. Death walks in Vegas, and Pia is kidnapped as an ancient enemy makes a move to destroy the Great Beast once and for all.

But the Great Beast has other plans.

On Planet Dragos everything goes the way he arranges it—unless someone decides to cross him, and God help them then, because he doesn’t know how to back down, and he doesn’t ever, ever let up….

Review:

This book was a thrill ride from start to finish. Love the Elder Race series and this one was amazing. We are introduced to a couple of new characters especially Stinkpot aka Niall and Azrael. I do so hope that Azrael gets his own book. He took it very well when Pia slapped him. Plus we got to see some old favorites. I think everyone who was anyone in this series showed up for this book.

I always hate to see the end of her book and I cannot wait to see where Ms. Harrison take us on the next journey into this world. I give this one 5 stars.

I was given ARC in consideration of fair and honest review.

Review: Archangel's Viper by Nalini Singh

Enter New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh's breathtakingly passionate Guild Hunter world with the story of a woman who isn't a vampire or an angel...or human...

Once a broken girl known as Sorrow, Holly Chang now prowls the shadowy gray underground of the city for the angels. But it's not her winged allies who make her a wanted woman--it's the unknown power coursing through her veins. Brutalized by an insane archangel, she was left with the bloodlust of a vampire, the ability to mesmerize her prey, and a poisonous bite.

Now, someone has put a bounty on her head...

Venom is one of the Seven, Archangel Raphael's private guard, and he's as infuriating as he is seductive. A centuries-old vampire, his fangs dispense a poison deadlier than Holly's. But even if Venom can protect Holly from those hunting her, he might not be able to save himself--because the strange, violent power inside Holly is awakening...

No one is safe.

I know I say this every time but this is my absolute favorite Nalini Singh book. I didn't think i would like Viper but dayumn he is perfect for Holly.  He can be an ass a sexy one but an ass none the less and he is great to have in your corner. And he treats Holly like an equal and unbroken which is what she needs. And Holly might be a newbie paranormal but she is powerful and growing more so  If they can avoid the people who are trying to kill her then they just might get their happy every after. Unless Holly grows too powerful and Raphael has to put her down that is if Elena would let him.

I bought this book with my own money and i give it 5 stars plus. If you want you can buy your own cluck here

Review: Wrecked by Cynthia Eden

In New York Times Bestselling Author Cynthia Eden’s gripping new LOST novel, who’s the cat and who’s the mouse…?
SHE LEFT HIM ONCE.
LOST Agent Ana Young was only fourteen when she was abducted by a madman, but unlike many kidnapping victims, she did go home. Now, her mission is to find the missing. But her new case has her on the hunt for the escaped convict who’s obsessed with her. And Ana has an unlikely partner—the sexy, supposedly-by-the-book FBI agent she had one amazing night with and had to forget.
NOW HE HAS TO PROTECT HER 24/7…
FBI Special Agent Cash Knox knows that Ana, the petite, tough-ass former bounty hunter, can get the job done again. But this time, someone else leads them to “Bernie-the-Butcher,” someone who’s been watching Ana. Waiting for her.
FROM A CRAZED KILLER.
Now, catching a deranged murderer means Ana must trust her guarded heart to the gorgeous, complicated G-man she wasn’t supposed to fall for.

Excerpt

“Your boss gave you the company jet,” Cash murmured as he sat across from Ana—in one very plush company jet. “You must have a lot of pull with him.” And, yeah, that was jealousy twisting his guts up but he couldn’t help it.
When it came to Ana Young—Ana Break-My-Heart Young—his emotions were always raw.
At his words, Ana stopped looking at the clouds outside of her window and her head turned toward him. When she locked her dark gaze on him, Cash felt that stare like a punch straight to his gut. Ana wasn’t the kind of woman that a guy forgot, though Cash had sure as hell tried to put their night behind him.
Ana was different.
She was the kind of woman who could wreck a man.
“If you have a question about my relationship with Gabe,” Ana said, her voice clear and easy, “then ask. But don’t make snide-ass comments that are only going to piss me off, okay?”
That was Ana. Straight to the point. A woman who didn’t play games. He could sure respect that. “Are you involved with him?”
“Am I sleeping with my boss? No. He’s married, actually. Quite happily.” Her lips kicked up into a quick smile. “To a former client.”
His gaze darted to her lips. Her lips were truly incredible—red and full. And her scar shouldn’thave been sexy. Cash hated that Ana had been hurt. Hated that she was scarred in any way. If he’d had his way, she would have never known a moment of pain or fear.
Ana had a habit of lightly licking the faint line of her scar when she was in deep thought. A quick swipe of her pink tongue across her top lip.
Drives me insane.
Not that she knew it. Not that he’d tell her. It had been two years, for fuck’s sake. He’d moved the hell on. And even if Ana wasn’t sleeping with her boss, a woman like her would sure be sleeping with someone.
Whoever the guy was . . . he was one lucky bastard.
“What about you, Agent Knox?”
His brows rose. Since when was he Agent Knox?
“You involved with someone?” Her gaze dipped to his left hand. “I don’t see a ring, but that doesn’t mean anything. You certainly strike me as the marrying kind.”
He flexed his fingers. “Not involved. Definitely not married.” But her words were nagging. “What do you mean about me being the marrying kind?”
She waved her hand toward him. “Oh, you know.”
He had no clue.
“You’re the true-blue type. The white knight. So I just figured you’d have a white picket fence and an adoring family waiting for you by now.” Sadness flickered in her eyes, just for a moment. “I rather wanted that for you.”
Wait, what? “Ana Young,” he said, rasping out her name. “You confuse the hell out of me.”
Her long lashes fell, casting shadows against her cheeks.
“So . . . are we going to talk about it at all?” Cash drawled, aware that his Texas accent had just slipped out. Ana had grown up in Texas, too, though she’d certainly never talked to him about her life. Not that they’d done a whole lot of talking when they’d known each other before.
They’d met. Ignited. Burned up the sheets.
Then she’d vanished.
Her lashes slowly lifted. Her gaze swept over his face. “You look the same.” Her head tilted a bit as she studied him. “Though the stubble is new. Kind of gives you a rough edge.” She paused. “I like it.”
Ana.
“As far as talking about ‘it’ . . . I’m assuming you mean the case? Because we really don’t have anything else to talk about.”
That was cold and clear. And Cash found himself smiling. “You seem the same, too.” Direct. Sexy as all hell. But . . . “Prettier, though. How is that possible? How do you get better with time?”
She stared back at him. Her eyes were so dark, but he could see the gold hidden in their depths. That gold had ignited when he’d been inside of her and she’d been coming for him.
Focus on the case, man!
Because he wasn’t there for a walk down memory lane. He was with Ana because she truly was the best.
And . . .
So maybe I lied to Ana a bit. He lied to people all the time, and they had no clue. Ana had just said he was the white knight type.
That was hilarious. He was as far from a white knight as it was possible to be.

Review:

I believe Ana is one of  my all time favorite heroine of any Romantic Suspense novel I've read. She's smart, brave, and very flawed. But heck who isn't lol. She's also tough a nails but then she's had to be with her history but she works for the victims now.

Cash comes across as a true blue hero but that is not strictly true. He'll do anything to protect what is his and Ana is his. He just has to convince her of that fact. With her being fixated on by a sick and twisted killer that won't be that easy. All he has to do is help her find and stop the killer before he gets to his end game of Ana and get Ana to agree to happy ever after. Piece of cake right.

Good thing he one stubborn cuss. I like his never quit attitude. And in the end they get their man and he gets his lady. I was given this book by the author in exchange for consideration of a fair and honest review. I give this one 5 stars and here's hoping we get many more romantic suspense books from Cynthia Eden.

Review: Taken by Cynthia Eden

In New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Eden’s latest novel, the Last Option Search Team (LOST) returns—and for one agent, the hunt for a serial killer just got personal…
He swore to protect her…
Bailey Jones somehow survived her harrowing abduction by the infamous Death Angel. But while her physical scars have healed, she can’t stop wondering about a woman she helped to escape, who simply disappeared. When LOST agent Asher Young is assigned to her case, Bailey instantly feels an attraction to the intense, ex-SEAL who seems to be carrying dark secrets of his own.
But keeping his promise…
Asher can’t afford to let his growing feelings for Bailey distract him from his job. Only she can soothe his horrific nightmares, but the last thing he wants is for the demons from his past to ever hurt her. Bailey has gotten past his guard, and the emotions he feels for her—they’re as dark and dangerous as the past he doesn’t want to face.
Could cost both their lives.
When corpses begin surfacing—all marked with the same tattoo depicting the Death Angel’s calling card—Asher must race to stop a twisted killer who wants nothing more than to claim his next prize: Bailey…

Excerpt

“Bailey Jones . . .” Asher said her name softly, as if tasting it on his tongue. “There are a few things you should know about me before we begin.”
There are things you should know about me, too. But I’m not going to tell you . . . or you won’t help me.
“First, you don’t have to fear me. Part of my job at LOST—well, let’s just say Gabe hired me on because he wanted a bit more muscle. Protection is my role. I’ll keep you safe and track down any clues about that missing woman. On my watch, nothing will happen to you.”
She nodded even though—
I don’t believe you. There is no safety. I learned that.
“And second . . . you don’t have to bullshit me.”
Now she blinked in surprise.
He laughed, a deep, rough rumble of sound that Bailey found she liked to hear.
“You think I can’t tell when you’re wearing a mask? You’ve got yourself locked down tight, under careful control, don’t you? But you don’t have to do that with me. I’m not one of the North Carolina deputies. I’m not going to judge you. And I’m not some lame-ass reporter who wants to splash your story all over the world.”
I wear a mask all the time now because something is wrong inside of me. It has been, ever since that fire. That hole. That hell.
“So let’s put a no-bullshit rule in effect,” he murmured.
Her hands curled around the steering wheel. “Liking rules, is that more of a military thing again?”
“Wanting to break rules . . . that’s why I left the SEALs.”
He’d been a SEAL? She turned to look up at him. “Is there a rule number three?”
“We’ll get to that rule later . . .”
She started the vehicle. “I’ll follow you to your place.”
“Do you have any rules for me?”
Don’t hurt me. Don’t judge me. Don’t pity me. Bailey cleared her throat. “I’m sure we can get to those rules later, too.”
He slammed her door shut. Through the window, Bailey watched as he strode away—not to another car, but to a shiny, big monster of a motorcycle. He climbed on, revved the engine moments later, and that rumbling growl filled the parking garage.
Asher slid the helmet over his head—a black helmet with a dark visor that completely obscured his face. Her heart beat faster as she stared at him.
Dangerous.
That had been her first thought when she’d seen him in the conference room.
But he was on her side. Not a threat to her. He’d help her.
At least, that was what she hoped. Because if something didn’t change soon, Bailey was afraid that the deputies would be right about her. Her shrink would be right.
I may go crazy.

Review:

This is the latest book in Cynthia Eden's LOST series. And I believe that Bailey is my favorite heroine in this series so far. Seems like every time I read one of her books I say that but her heroines are so doggone fantastic. They are smart, strong, stubborn and snarky which are my favorite type of heroine. Yes they are usually traumatized or scarred  or both but they don't know the meaning of the word quit. And I like it. Bailey is the one that got away but there was another and she's determined to find out what happened to her. But as always things are not as simple as that.  When she hires the LOST team to help her she meets Asher and sparks fly right away.

But Asher has issues of his own dealing with his and his sister's abduction as teens. He tries putting Bailey off because he doesn't want her hurt if he fails her. Don't think that would happen. Asher takes being protective to extremes and I think the only thing that would stop him would be his death. And with the killer on the lose and looking to rectify its mistake in letting her get away that just might happen.

I will say that Ms Eden got me with parts of this story. I've been reading her stories for a while now and she just gets better and better at the suspense part of her stories. She's always rocked the romance part lol. If you've not read this series what are you waiting on. I was gifted this book by the author in exchange for consideration of fair and honest review. I give this one 5 stars. You can click below and purchase you own copy but if you've not read this series i'd start with the first one

And Sailor Bishop has wickedness on his mind.

As Ísa starts to fall for a man who makes her want to throttle and pounce on him at the same time, she knows she has to choose – play it safe and steady, or risk all her dreams and hope Sailor doesn’t destroy her heart.

Review:

I don't read many Contemporary books but come on this is Nalini Singh. She could write the back of a cereal box and I'd give it a go. I've read her Rock series and loved all of them and from Rock Hard I really wanted to read more about Gabe's brothers. And finally we do. I love love love Sailor, Pardon the pun but he's Rock Steady and a stand up guy. Sure he has daddy issues but that's alright. Isa has mommy and daddy issues.  At least Sailor has a fantastic mom and wonderful step-dad. They both love and respect each other very much but their dreams are in conflict. I love the way they work out their differences.  Just goes to show if you want something bad enough and work hard enough you can accomplish anything. I love they way they talk to each other. And they way he deals with her brother and sister. I thing both siblings needs their on HEA. Darn it Nalini has such fantastic characters that I want them all to have their own story lol.

I was given this book in consideration of a fair and honest review. I give it 5 stars and if you've not read her Rock series you need to do so. You can click below to get this book.

Cherish Hard Quote 2 (2).jpg

Excerpt from CHERISH HARD by
Nalini Singh

ÍSA WONDERED WHAT THE HELL she was doing.
Being a devil woman, she reminded herself. Having fun for a change. Not being a grandma at twenty-eight years of age.
Still, she couldn’t stop second-guessing herself as Sailor led her out of the house through a side entrance that opened out into a small, manicured garden. “I’ll have to take off my heels,” she whispered when she saw the pebbled path snaking through the garden.
“Want a piggyback ride?” A playful grin. “I promise not to molest your thighs.”
Goose bumps broke out over Ísa’s skin, her nipples tight. Reckless as she was feeling tonight, she might just have taken him up on his offer if she hadn’t been worried her damn dress would split in two. “Maybe when we’re naked,” she said instead, Devil Ísa in full flower.
Groaning, he doubled over as if she’d punched him.
Her lips twitching despite the melting sexual heat liquefying her bones, she leaned down to slip off her heels.
Sailor waited, his hand firm around hers, until she was done. Taking the heels from her, he carried them in his other hand as Ísa padded beside him on the grass that lay on this side of the pebbled path. The path ended at a weathered wooden gate, which, when opened, put them at the top of a narrow walkway that led down onto a beach Ísa couldn’t yet see but could hear.
Her heart crashed in time with the waves as they made their way down to the beach while the mansion behind them pulsed with light and music. But she didn’t turn and run away, she didn’t stop and talk herself out of it, she didn’t attempt to be a sensible adult. She followed a gorgeous, blue-eyed man down a dirt pathway to an effectively private beach.
The sand that had been tracked onto the path was gritty under her feet, the air coming off the sea cool but not cold.
“The water’s going to be icy, isn’t it?” she whispered to his broad back.
“Don’t worry, spitfire. I’ll keep you warm,” was the deep-voiced response. “Stop here.” Jumping down to the beach, he reached up to grab her by the waist, swinging her down as if she were a featherweight.
Something fluffy and mushy came to life inside Ísa. “Here?”
Shaking his head, he said, “Raj told me there’s like a little cove area—not a proper cove, but caused by— There.”
Ísa saw it at once. A huge tree had fallen into the water at some point and smashed up against some rocks where it appeared to be stuck. Between the jutting rocks on either side and the fallen trunk was a naturally created pool. The water within it was pretty calm, and it looked as if they could get to it by clambering over some rocks that didn’t appear too sharp or slippery.
Of course, she’d be walking over those rocks naked.
Ísa looked up at the moon. Imagined it shining on the stark white of her body. Gulped. “Will you close your eyes while I go in the water?” Even Devil Ísa wasn’t up for blinding him with her glow-in-the-dark form.
A glance back. “What’re you going to bribe me with?”
Ísa scowled. “Not pushing you into the water right now.” It was a toothless threat given his muscles and her lack of them.
Rubbing his jaw, he said, “Three tongue kisses. That’s my price, and I’m not budging.”
Ísa wanted to pounce on him all over again. “Two,” she countered.
“Nuh-uh. Three. Or I’m keeping both eyes wide open.” Leaning in, he pressed his nose to hers. “I really want to keep my eyes wide open.”
And Ísa really wanted to kiss him and run her hands all over that sculpted chest. “Three,” she whispered.
