“Shhhh!” Mason whispered. “They’ll hear you.”
Is he crazy? And how did he get to me so fast? Skylar’s eyes were wide and confused.
When he noticed her expression, Mason gestured his head to her house. “Something is in there.”
Sure enough, the front door loomed open. Skylar shook her head and mumbled against his hand. Unable to hear her, Mason released his hand and lowered both of them down beside the car.
“That’s my cousin’s house.” Skylar panicked. Why had he said “something” instead of someone? As sounds of crashing objects and loud inhuman groans filled her ears, she trembled. She had never witnessed a break-in before. “We’re being robbed? Call the police.”
“The police can’t help.”
“What do you mean ‘the police can’t help?’ We can’t just stand here.” Skylar narrowed her eyes at him, thinking he had lost his mind. “Listen.” She stood up.
Mason yanked her down. “Shhh, they will hear you.”
“I don’t care if they hear me. Then maybe they’ll leave.”
“Trust me, they won’t.”
“Trust you?” Skylar scoffed.
“They aren’t what you think.” Mason sat on the cement with his back against the car. “How did I miss them?” he mumbled, raking his hair back and then standing up.
“How did you miss them? Are they your friends? What’s going on?” Skylar’s voice rang out in the quiet night. She didn’t care that he’d asked her to keep her voice down. Maybe if she talked loud enough, they would be scared off and just leave.
Mason rolled his eyes. “Great. Now you’ve got their attention. Run!”
Two men stood outside the doorway, obviously searching for where the voices had come from. They turned and spotted Skylar dead on. What they did next seemed impossible, but it was real. They morphed into beast-like forms.
She stood frozen, unable to believe her eyes. Incapable of moving of her own will, a powerful yank on her arm forced her out of her trance. Mason had seized her wrist as he began to run. Wobbling and unable to run as fast with her two-inch heels on, she swiftly pulled them off as she ran and hooked the back straps over her fingers. They were her favorite pair, and even with monsters behind her, she couldn’t let them go. Besides, how would she explain losing her shoes?
Looking over her shoulder to see who—or what—she was dashing madly away from, she saw two hideous creatures on their tail. Skylar was glad Mason had made her start running. Their grotesque body structures appeared to be half beast and half human. Their arms and legs bulged, like steroids gone wrong. With distorted heads, their bulging yellow eyes glowed as bright as headlights on a car and their humongous mouths were even too big for their faces. They roared through their shark-like teeth, charging ahead, both with a look that showed no thoughts of mercy.

Book Blitiz and Giveaway: Long Wolf by Anne Marsh

Lone Wolf
Anne Marsh
(A Breed MC, #4)
Publication date: May 31st 2017
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance
A sexy new standalone shifter romance from New York Times Bestselling Author Anne Marsh…

I don’t play well with other wolves. The pack needs muscle, and I provide it as their enforcer. My biker name is Gator—after the alligator that chewed my face up. Sure I can make a woman scream with pleasure, but the scars on my face? That’s truth in advertising right there. There’s not an ounce of pretty in me. I fight, I ride—and I do it alone. So chasing the gorgeous marine biologist who wanders into my bayou hunting for wolves is not my smartest move. She’s Beauty. I’m the Beast. That story’s already been told and life’s fresh out of happy endings.
LONE WOLF is a sexy standalone werewolf shifter romance with more than its fair share of humor, dirty sex, and alpha males who fall in love hard.

Goodreads / Amazon / iBooks / Kobo

EXCERPT:

Frowning, I tread water and stare up at the man I hit. From my current position, I look up (and then up, up, up some more) a well-muscled chest. His black T-shirt exposes an impressive amount of powerful biceps and forearms, making him more Mount Muscle Man than not. An equally impressive amount of scar tissue snakes across his left arm. Based on the quantity and size of the ropey marks, he’s lucky to still have an arm. Something bit down on him hard.

He grunts. That’s definitely an unhappy sound. “My face is up here, babe.”
Yes, I got sidetracked. Welcome to my universe. I paddle a little harder to stay in place. I don’t think the water’s that deep here, but no way will I put my feet down. God knows what’s lurking on the bottom. Mud, sticks, fanged beasts, and water snakes… I prefer my bayou from a safer, drier vantage point.
I shift my eyes to his face as ordered. The left side of his jaw matches his forearm. I revise my opinion from lucky to have an arm to lucky to be alive.
He runs a hand over his jaw. The scarred side of his jaw. “You swim too long, and you might meet my buddy. On the other hand, you could paddle on over here, and I’ll give you a lift if you ask nicely.”
He makes the choice sound so simple. Stay in the water and face down monsters. Go to him and get rescued. And it’s not like I really have any good choices here. Sure, I can swim to the bank, but getting out is going to be a bitch. I’ll end up scratched to shit, and then I’ll be mosquito bait and miles from civilization. It’s always possible another boater passes by and I can flag them down for a lift, but this particular part of the bayou isn’t precisely Grand Central Station. It’s more like the train-comes-once-a-week depot in the middle of nowhere. I could be waiting for a very, very long time.
But can I trust him?
He sighs. Loudly. “Pretend I’m a fucking Boy Scout, oui?

Virtual Book Tour, Interview, and Giveaway: Blood Phoenix Imprinted by Alisha Cotanzo

Urban Fantasy with satirical, horror, and romantic elements

Date Published: May 9, 2017

Publisher: Transmundane Press, LLC

With an old war raging between vampires and shifters, Ria must learn to refocus her life if she's going to survive.

Her renegade fight was just the beginning. The queen is recruiting new soldiers. Ria's going on vicious missions with her battle buddy. And her explosive abilities are malfunctioning at inopportune moments.

So now, Ria must forgo her selfish desires to compartmentalize her life, but what's she to do when she can't save everyone she wants to? One girl may not be capable of taking down an empire. Good thing Ria's got help.

Interview:

How did you do research for your book?

The research for this book was a mix of learning about swords and using them for hand-to-hand combat and scouring the internet for images of local NY settings. My favorite bit of research came when I decided to use the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que as the scene for Ria’s first mission to observe a pack of wolves she’s meant to murder. Having grown up in Syracuse, NY, I wanted to showcase one of the iconic places from my city. To be sure I had the details to fully capture this place (like the mural on the side, the line of Harley’s out front, and the chalked out smoking pig on the air vent in the diner section), my dad brought me there for lunch, where we got the most mouth-watering BBQ burger. I jotted five pages of notes in my traveler’s notebook, and we bonded with our waiter, who was a fellow writer.

Where do you get inspiration for your stories?

I gain inspiration from a multitude of places—my past, my friends, my husband, and of course, the books I’ve read (I like to slip in references to a lot of other stories to ramp up the satirical and humorous elements). But most of the time, ideas slap me in the face when I’m exhausted and unable to think. It’s funny what the mind does when we’re busy working.

Do you have another profession besides writing?

I do. I am an editor at Transmundane Press and an English Professor in Oklahoma.

Do you write every day?

Boy, I try to, but I tend to pile too much on my plate, so if I don’t plan myself some writing time, I tend to fall behind. I’ve recently begun a summer boot camp for writing. Let’s see if it works. J

Favorite meal?

Okay, this is way too specific. My favorite meal comes after a long, fifty-four-hour train ride from Oklahoma to New York, where my family picks up a pretty greasy me. After my shower, we order from Dominick’s Italian Restaurant in Syracuse. I always always always get chicken riggies and a chocolate cannoli. Yum! Plus, it’s the first meal I share with my family when I come on my yearly visit.

What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you?

A lot of my favorite funny moments come in class when my students have a bit more freedom to goof off and build community. During a lesson in reading aloud to their groups, Elijah—one of my class clowns—calmly asks me if I knew about Dr. Seuss’s past. He tells me about how Dr. Seuss cheated on his wife before he found out she had cancer and died. The moral, he said, was, “One bitch, two bitch, dead bitch, new bitch.” The entire class stopped, looked at him with a bit of mortification before we erupted in laughter. I cried. He was disappointed when I wouldn’t count it as his turn to read.

Favorite Vacation Spot?

In 2011, my husband and I took a three-week honeymoon in lieu of having a wedding. We spent a week in London with some friends, a week in Scotland, and a week in Ireland. Besides getting to see the highlands of Scotland during twilight as we drove across the country to our hotel (we got there at 1:30 am), the giant, red bed and breakfast we stayed in was magnificent, and the owner tried to sell it to us. If I had the 400,000 she was asking for it, I would have jumped at the opportunity. Down the street from her home was a street of vendors—just one—and a body of water. A little ways off was probably one of the most breath-taking sight of my adult life, literally. The Cliffs of Moher was vibrant, cold, and windy, even in July, plus I bought my husband a unique wedding ring while we were there.

Rosa

I need to escape.

After those racist bastards destroyed my home, I can’t face the world again.

I’ve rented a cabin in the heart of the Crookshollow forest. I’m going to lock myself away and work on my book. I’m going to write my story.

And I absolutely, positively WILL NOT think about Caleb, the hunky labourer who’s fixing up my cabin.

No way.

I won’t think about the way his eyes melt my heart, and his smile melts my panties.

I’m too emotionally raw right now. I can’t handle a fling, especially not with a white guy.

Especially not a guy like him. A guy who shags and leaves. I can’t handle any more heartache.

Caleb

Excerpt 1

The toilet didn’t flush.

You can’t be serious. I am not doing this. I’m not living in a cabin with a toilet that
doesn’t work.

I yanked the cord again, harder this time.

The loo made a gurgling sound, but nothing else happened.

“You’ve got to be kidding.”
I said aloud, my voice sounding hollow in the darkness. Great. This is just perfect. I should have listened more carefully to Rita’s warnings about the plumbing. What had she said, while I was busy thinking about the fire again?

Even when I was hundreds of miles away, Old Garsmouth still managed to fuck up my life.

Well fine, I wasn’t going to deal with this problem in the dark. I’d call a plumber in the morning. I
slammed down the lid, and turned on the tap to wash my hand. A tiny trickle came out, followed by nothing except a loud, thumping noise from the pipes.

“Aargh!” I pounded my fist against the wall. Something scuttled across my knuckles.

“Aargh!” I yanked my hand away and stumbled out the door, straight into a tall stranger who was standing on the path.

“Do you need some help?” A deep voice boomed in my ear, with the familiar heavy vowels of a Scottish accent. Huge arms wrapped around my body.

“Aargh!” I flailed my arms about, tearing myself away from his grip. Who the hell was that? Why was some guy walking around my cabin at night?

And why did my body suddenly feel so strange? It was as though I’d stuck my finger in a light socket. All the hair on my body stood to attention. I could only imagine what the frizz on top of my head must look like. My heart thundered in my chest, but this wasn’t fear – it was something else. It almost felt like … excitement.

I fought against the overwhelming urge to throw myself back into the arms of the stranger. What
is that about?

I backed against the side of the loo, and studied the stranger. Even in the moonlight, it was obvious he was the world’s most attractive man. Well maybe not the most … Idris Elba was still alive, of course, and Sam Heughan. But this guy would certainly make top five. And he had the significant advantage in that he was in my immediate vicinity, although I still had yet to ascertain if that was a good thing or not.

He had long, floppy red hair that tumbled around his face in tousled waves. A line of dark stubble crossed his strong, square jaw, and the corners of his mouth lifted up into a cheeky half-grin. Eyes of blue ice looked me up and down with predator-like focus. Even though his thick leather jacket, I could see the dark shapes of a tattoo poking out from the side of his collar. He carried a metal box in his hand. A gold ring dangled from the top of his right ear. God, I’d love to grab that
with my tongue and—

What are you even thinking? This is nuts. That’s a white guy, standing in the dark. Hot
or not, he can’t be there for any good reason.

I backed away further, trying to ignore the desire surging through my body. Stay alert, Rosa.
Ignore your body for the moment. It’s probably having some kind of seizure. If he makes a move, turn and run for the path at the other side of the cabin—

“Are you having some plumbing issues?” The stranger asked, taking a step forward.

I held up a hand. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I demanded, in a voice that oozed the
confidence I did not feel. “You’re sneaking around my cabin in the middle of the night wearing all black, you scare me half to death, and the first thing you have to say to me is about the plumbing?

He shrugged, a full-on wicked grin spreading across his face, the kind of grin that might move him
from top five hottest guys on earth into the top three. “Why not? I help lots of women with their plumbing.”

“Don’t be disgusting. Are you here to attack me? I warn you, I’m dangerous when provoked.” I tried to make my feet move back, but they were frozen in place.

“Oh, I bet you are.” There was that grin again. Cocky, self-assured. Sexy as hell. Damn this guy. “In all seriousness, though. I just came to see if you were all right. I’ve brought my tools.”

He jiggled the box in his hand, which upon closer inspection did indeed look like a toolbox. Certainly
not big enough to carry a body around in. That was some positive news.

I still wasn’t buying it. “Do you just randomly walk around the forest in the dark, looking for plumbing disasters? You still haven’t told me your name.”

The guy set down the box, and held up both hands in a gesture of supplication. “My name’s Caleb. Rita hired me to do some carpentry work around the place. I’m staying in the cabin just over there.” He jerked his thumb at the trees behind us. “She asked me to come out and check on you, offer my services for whatever you need.” Caleb grinned again. “Looks like I got here just in time.”

Review: The Unyielding by Shelly Laurenston

Stieg Engstrom, Angriest Viking Ever, has got big problems. The human Viking Clans of earth are in danger of being obliterated—along with the rest of the world—and the only one who may be able to save them is a super pain-in-the-ass Crow. Most people annoy Stieg, but this is the one woman he really can’t stand…

Erin Amsel loves being a Crow! Why wouldn’t she when the other Viking Clans are so hilariously arrogant and humorless? She’s not about to let all that come to an end! She just didn’t expect to be shoulder to shoulder in battle with Stieg. Then again, he’s so easy to torment—and also kind of cute.

With the future of the world riding on them, Stieg knows he’ll have to put aside his desperate need to kiss the smirk right off Erin’s face. Wait. What? He didn’t mean that—did he? No! They have one goal: To conquer the idiots. Because nothing bugs Stieg more than when idiots win. If only he can keep himself from suddenly acting like one…

I would never have put these two together. I'm amazed they didn't kill each other and I think the rest of the crew on both sides were also. I knew Erin would be successful because that girl has no quit in her. But dayumn she had to go through a lot to save the world. And Stieg was great even when I kept thinking she's going to go to far and he or someone else is going to kill her. I like Erin though she is unapologetically a bad-ass and she likes it that way lol.

I was tickled to see the whole gang there and cannot wait to see where Ms Laurenston goes with this world. Her books always make me laugh and are just a good fun read. I give this one 5 stars and was given this book via Netgalley in consideration of review.

Review: Lost Summer by M.T. Stone

Stole Her Innocence And Then She Vanished, So Everyone Blamed Me.Now I’ve Been Given A Chance To Save Her…  Hopefully It’s Not Too Late!

Dylan

We had the time of our lives and I finally stole her innocence.  Then someone stole her.  Now I’m stuck in the hot seat, being grilled under the bright lights.  Sitting here, all I can think about is going out there and finding her.  At this point, however, it’s going to take a miracle just to get out of jail.  Unfortunately, I’m not the type who attracts miracles or even luck for that matter.

Carson
Olivia Bennett is the only woman I’ve ever loved, but I lost her after choosing the Marines over college.  Now her daughter is missing and the blame has been pinned on my only nephew.  With twenty years of military and DEA experience, I know I can hunt down the bastard who took her and bring her back alive.  If I succeed, it will heal some old wounds with my family and give me another shot at winning back the woman of my dreams.

Summer
I return to consciousness face down on a stinky piece of cheap, prickly carpet.  My head is pounding.  I can’t open my eyes.  I try to move my arms, then my legs, but both are tightly bound.   All I hear is the sound of tires humming against the pavement.  I try to scream, but my lips are pressed so tightly together that I can barely muster a moan.  My mind goes blank as I scramble to think of any way to improve my odds.  I have no idea where I am, where I’m headed, who has taken me or why?  My heart races out of control as tears soak the blindfold that relentlessly keeps me in the dark.  I find myself spiraling into utter despair.
**Lost Summer is a full-length (92,000 words) stand alone Romantic Suspense with No Rape Scenes, No Cheating and No Cliffhanger.  If you like a fast-paced book that you can’t put down, you will love this one!

Review:

Not sure where or how I first became aware of this book but the cover certainly got my attention at the beginning and then I read the blurb and I had to read it. Luckily for me at the time it was a free read so I one clicked it. I had other books that I wanted to read but this one had grabbed me so I read it and I wasn't disappointed. This book was an attention grabbing fast paced rocket ride to the finish.

I'll preface my next thought with I don't normally read YA or NA a lot and this one was a NA and it showed. Some of the ways the hero and heroine thought or did things was WTH hell moments for me but as I said that was probably me since I'm considerably older than they are. Actually my kiddos are a little older than them lol. The story and writing were excellent and I'll definitely be keeping my eyes out for more stories by this author.

As I said I got this book on my own and I give it 4 stars. So if this one grabs you the way it did me go and one click It's still a bargain at $.99.
