Reviews for Kelly Meding's 1st two books
Three Days to Dead by Kelly Meding
She’s young, deadly, and hunted—with only three days to solve her own murder…
When Evangeline Stone wakes up naked and bruised on a cold slab at the morgue – in a stranger’s body, with no memory of who she is and how she got there – her troubles are only just beginning. Before that night, she and the other two members of her Triad were star bounty hunters — mercilessly cleansing the city of the murderous creatures living in the shadows, from vampires to shape-shifters to trolls. Then something terrible happened that not only cost all three of them their lives, but also convinced the city’s other Hunters that Evy was a traitor . . . and she can’t even remember what it was.
Now she’s a fugitive, piecing together her memory, trying to deal some serious justice – and discovering that she has only three days to solve her own murder before the reincarnation spell wears off. Because in three days, Evy will die again – but this time, there’s no second chance…
Evangeline Stone, a rogue bounty hunter, never asked for a world divided between darkness and light . .
. . . or the power to die and live again in someone else’s borrowed body. After a murder plot meant to take her out leaves an entire race of shapeshifters nearly extinct, Evy is gnawed by guilt. So when one of the few survivors of the slaughter enlists her aid, she feels duty-bound to help—even though protecting a frail, pregnant shifter is the last thing Evy needs, especially with the world going to hell around her.
Amid weres, Halfies, gremlins, vamps—and increasingly outgunned humans—a war for supremacy is brewing. With shifters demanding justice, her superiors desperate to control her, and an assassin on her trail, Evy discovers a horrifying conspiracy. And she may be the only person in the world who can stop it—unless, of course, her own side gets her first.
I loved Evy. She is a very strong heroine with shit thrown at her from all sides. First of all waking up dead was bad enough. But losing your memory and your team almost simotaeaously would be bad enough but having to deal with a new body and everyone out to kill you on top of that no wonder she had issues. I would be one paranoid bitch myself. I liked her handler/lover but we weren't allowed to get to know him that much with all the issues with Evy. He was something of a stick figure to me. The second book was better in this respect and I hope Ms. Meding fills him in more in next book. If I had read these books with the original time frame between them I'd probably not been as taken with them as I was. I read them back to back and it was like they were one continuous story. There were questions to be answered but after both of these books it seemed that most things were settled.
If you've not read any of these books I would say try them you won't be disappointed. I give these 4 stars.
These were bought and paid for by yours truly.

Revew: Venon by Jennifer Estep
Product Description
What kind of assassin works pro bono?
It’s hard to be a badass assassin when a giant is beating the crap out of you. Luckily, I never let pride get in the way of my work. My current mission is personal: annihilate Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who murdered my family. Which means protecting my identity, even if I have to conceal my powerful Stone and Ice magic when I need it most. To the public, I’m Gin Blanco, owner of Ashland’s best barbecue joint. To my friends, I’m the Spider, retired assassin. I still do favors on the side. Like ridding a vampire friend of her oversized stalker—Mab’s right-hand goon who almost got me dead with his massive fists. At least irresistible Owen Grayson is on my side. The man knows too much about me, but I’ll take my chances. Then there’s Detective Bria Coolidge, one of Ashland’s finest. Until recently, I thought my baby sister was dead. She probably thinks the same about me. Little does she know, I’m a cold-blooded killer . . . who is about to save her life.
I think in this series that this book is my absolute favorite. The story line just keeps getting better and better. And I want to be Gin when I grow up. She's not afraid to the right thing no matter what others think of her. And her little growing "family" rocks. Her brother Finn Omg you have to get him the right woman. I can't wait to see him fall. And the new hottie Owen can we say yum on all levels. He is perfect for Gin and I am so glad the butthead is gone. She needed to kick his ass to the curb at their first meeting. Only thing wrong with this series is that the books can't come fast enough to suit me. I so want to know the back story of the twins and hope that eventually we get it.
If you've not read this series you need too cause it is an emotional coaster rideroller ride from start to finish. Gin is a fantastic heroine who really cares about people in general and lord help you if harm or
attempt to harm one of hers cause you'd just better stay out of dark alleys and always look over your shoulder.
I give this one 5 stars. I bought this all by myself at amazon. Here are the links to the first two books in the series.

Giveaway: Wolf Signs by Vivian Arend
Win a copy of A Wolf Signs by Vivian Arend!
Robyn Maxwell doesn’t care that her brother has to cancel out on their backcountry ski trip. She can do it alone. The fact she’s deaf doesn’t make her survival skills any weaker. The chance to get away from it all and relax in the Yukon wilderness is just what she’s been craving.
Meeting wilderness guide Keil at the cabin starts cravings of another kind. Keil’s one hot hunk of ripped, tasty male. Now she has to deal with raging hormones as well as strange questions about wolves and mates and challenges to the death.
Keil was trying for a nice reflective retreat before challenging for the Alpha position of his Alaskan pack. He wasn’t planning on meeting the woman destined to be his mate, or finding out she’s not aware she has the genes of a wolf.
Between dealing with his accident-prone younger brother, a deaf mate with an attitude and an impending duel to the death, his week—and his bed—is suddenly full.
Far from the relaxing getaway any of them had in mind...

Review: Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost
Product Description
An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness...and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.
Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.
At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears - this fearless, beautiful....human who braved death to rescue him. Though her burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.
But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.
Truthfully I wasn't looking forward to reading this book like I am Vlad, Ian, or even another Cat/Bones book. Mencheres wasn't as great a secondary character to me as some of the rest. But this book very pleasantly surprised me. He turned out to be a very sexy hero with a very strong take no shit heroine. I really liked the back story and the bits and pieces we learn about Ms. Frost's supernatural world in this book. This book just made salivate more for the next book in this series. This book could very well stand on it's on but reading it in order with the series could only increase the enjoyment of this book.
I give this book 4 1/2 stars and would recommend it to anyone. I purchased this one with my own money for my personal use.

Find out how it all began...
During the bite of the Great Depression, sole female dominant Joan Fuller struggles against the rise of cruelty among her alpha counterparts. The men tolerate her interference--until she breaks from the pack and allies with a witch and a vampire. Now the Boston alpha intends to bring them all forcibly back into the fold--and teach her a lesson she may not survive.
Seamus Whelan and his werewolf bootleggers intend to retire from smuggling and savor their fortune, but first they must do a favor for an old friend: escort some female wolves to safety. An easy job, if their leader wasn't a prim ex-debutante with enough power to challenge Seamus himself. Chance makes them allies; powerful need makes them lovers.

Venom Author Jennifer Estep Guest Blog
Greetings and salutations! First of all, I want to say thanks to Pam for having me on the blog today. Thanks, Pam!
Some of you might know me as the author of the Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series. The books focus on Gin Blanco, an assassin codenamed the Spider who can control the elements of Ice and Stone. When she’s not busy killing people and righting wrongs, Gin runs a barbecue restaurant called the Pork Pit in the fictional southern metropolis of Ashland. The city is also home to giants, dwarves, vampires, and elementals – Air, Fire, Ice, and Stone. The first two books in the series are Spider’s Bite and Web of Lies. Venom, the third book, came out on Sept. 28. Tangled Threads, the fourth book, will be published in May 2011, while the fifth book (untitled) will be released in October 2011.
I’ve also sold a young adult urban fantasy series called Mythos Academy. The first book is called Touch of Frost and will be out in August 2011. The books focus on Gwen Frost, a Gypsy girl who has the gift of psychometry, or the ability to know an object’s history just by touching it. After a serious freak-out with her magic, Gwen finds herself shipped off to Mythos Academy, a school for the descendents of ancient warriors like Spartans, Valkyries, and more.
Since Pam likes to scrapbook, I thought that I’d talk about one of my hobbies today – cooking. Those of you who have read any of the books in my Elemental Assassin series know that my heroine Gin Blanco runs a barbecue restaurant and that cooking is one of her passions in life. In the books, Gin makes everything from cookies to cakes to sandwiches.A lot of people have asked me if I like to cook as much as Gin does, and the answer is yes. I’m totally addicted to the Food Network, and I’m always on the lookout for new recipes to try. I wish that I had more time to cook – and read too, of course. ;-)
My mom is the one who got me interested in cooking. That woman can bake like nobody’s business, and she’s always whipping up sweet treats. If it has sugar in it, she’ll make it at least once. I guess you could say that I’m taking after her. I went through my recipe box the other day, and the majority of the recipes were for desserts. LOL.
Anyway, I thought that I’d also share a recipe today. I get my recipes from friends, family, magazines, and more. I’m not sure where this one came from, since my mom and I have been making it for years, but it’s quick, easy, and is one of the best chocolate cakes that you will ever have. Enjoy!
Chocolate Chip Pound Cake
1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
1 small package instant chocolate pudding mix
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 (12 ounce) package mini chocolate morsels
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 10 cup Bundt pan. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding, and sugar. Add water, oil, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer at medium speed until smooth. Stir in sour cream and mini chocolate morsels. Pour batter into prepared pan, and bake for 1 hour (check at 50 minutes) or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool completely on wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
You can find a few more recipes on my website at http://www.jenniferestep.com/books-series/elemental-assassin-series/. Scroll down until you see “Gin’s Recipe Box.”
