The Missing

Don't read this if you don't like spoilers. I tried but might have given somethings away. It's hard to review books without giving things away.

Taige Branch knew she was different as a child when her parents were killed and she woke screaming that they were gone. Her babysitter and he mother both tried to comfort her up until the police showed up at the door. She was sent to live with her minister uncle in Gulf Shores, Alabama who had some strange ideas about physics and he tried to beat the devil out of her. Her gift or curse depending upon who you talked to make her an outcast more so than her biracial background. But it helped her find people sometimes they were alive sometimes not. But Cullen Morgan one of the tourists that come every summer seemed to care less about her abilities and slowly their friendship grew into an adult love until Cullen's mother was kidnapped and brutally murdered. Cullen blamed Taige for not saving her and sent her away.
Taige and Cullen never forgot each other even though both moved on with their lives. And now Cullen needs her help again to find one he loves his daughter who is also physic. During their search they rekindle their relationship and find his daughter.
This book starts out a little slow and after they reconnect it begins to go faster. If you love Shi's hunters then this book is definitely not like those. It has less action and more conversations. I am hoping this is just the first in a series because if not i am going to be upset. This book although having a HEA for Taige and Cullen left many unanswered questions. The bad guy in this book in my opinion was too easy to guess but it was funny because even though I guessed who it was I decided that I was wrong because that was too easy. So I guess in the end Shi did manage to confound me lol

Midnight's Daughter

Karen Chance has a new book out called Midnight Daughter about a Dhampir named Dorina aka Dory. In Karen's world a Dhampir is half human half vampire and disliked by all. They usually don't live long because either other vamps kill them or their uncontrollable rages gets themselves killed. Dorina is one of the longer lived Dhampir's cause she controls her rages by hunting and killing the dregs of the paranormal society and quite probably because of who her father is. Which was a treat for me cause I loved the tie in.
Dory has several problems lately and one of which is that Dory's uncle Drac(Dracula to you and me) as she calls him even though he's about the only big bad she's scared of has escaped and Daddy Dearest needs her help to recapture him. Not that she wants to do that because she'd much prefer to stake him herself. But since Daddy Dearest doesn't want that he has assigned her a helper, the master vamp Louis-Cesare which is not only powerful but sexy as hell to boot. Her other problem is that her roommate is missing and oh yes the Fey want her dead. What more could a girl wish for.
I went into this book after reading the back of it thinking that even though I adore her other series that it's not very ofter that an author hooks me into two series. But dayumn this book rocked from the opening page. I absolutely loved it. Dorina has her "issues" to be sure but she is great. She is loyal to her friends to a fault, a menace to anyone who winds up on the wrong side of her, and she takes a licking but keeps on ticking but a little pink bunny she definitely not. I loved it. Matter of fact out of the two series I think this one fought it way to the top lol.

Into the Lair By Maya Banks

This is Maya's second book in her Falcon Mercenary Group series. This one picks up with Ian and Braden who thanks to some funky experiments done to them on their last mission were turned into cat shifters very unstable shifters. Gabe one of their group who betrayed them to the asshole Esteban who gassed them asked them to find and protect his baby sister because Esteban wanted her. Since Katie was an innocent and just might be the perfect bait to draw Esteban out they couldn't really refuse.
Katie has some issues of her own because Esteban is not the only madman after her. Gabe did a pretty good job of teaching her to take care of herself. And she's not going to trust anyone especially if her instincts are telling her too. She has severe trust issues.
I just love these three character. Braden is cut up and likes to stir up shit. And Ian is the most serious of the brothers and he's the one that imo is the most tender hearted of he two. And Katie what can I say about her. She is feisty spitfire that takes no shit from anyone. I love her attitude cause she never gives up and never says die and gives Ian and Braden a run for their money.
This is one of my most favorite series on ebook right now. It has two hunky alpha shifters and not just shifters but big cat shifters which I think is sexy as hell. A spunky heroine that can take care of herself and proves it to boot. And the world building Maya does is very believable.

BTW this one releases today so run to www.mybookstoreandmore.com and purchase this book and while your there go ahead and pick up the first one in the series you won't be disappointed.

PS we need to start a petition for Tits to have his own book

Karen Chance has a new series.

From the book jacket
for Midnight's Daughter:

Dorina Basarab is a dhampir—half-human, half-vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. So far, Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing.

Now Dory’s vampire father has come back into her life. Her uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula) infamous even among vampires for his cruelty and murderous ways, has escaped his prison. And her father wants Dory to work with the gorgeous master vampire Louis-Cesare to put him back there.

Vampires and dhampirs are mortal enemies, and Dory prefers to work alone. But Dracula is the only thing on earth that truly scares her, and when Dory has to go up against him, she’ll take all the help she can get…

I am so looking forward to this book. I love her other series and this one looks to be just as good.

The Missing

Excerpt
The weird sense of deja vu exploded into something else entirely. Something that shook her to the core. His eyes narrowed and he reached up, caught her chin in his, staring at her.

She was pale and Cullen thought she looked every bit as shaken as he felt. “The dreams,” he muttered. He caught her face in his hands and forced her to look at him, staring into her pale gray eyes. The ugly, dark bruise around her left eye made her iris seem that much paler and as he watched, the pupil flared, enlarging until just a sliver of gray of visible.

Taige tried to jerk away and he wouldn’t let her. “You had the dreams, too, didn’t you?” he demanded.

Her voice shook as she reached up with one hand to jerk on his wrist, trying to break his hold. “Let go of me.”

Slowly, he shook his head. “You have,” he whispered, dismay spreading through him.

Dismay–and something else. She’d always held herself apart from him in those dreams. But through those dreams, he’d gotten to know her, gotten to know the woman she had become. She was pulling away from him not because she was angry at him, or because she didn’t want anything to do with him.

She pulled back because she still loved him.

The king has arrived giveaway

I just finished Noah By Jacquelyn Frank. I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up the book and it was nice and thick just the way I like them. If you haven't read the others in this series I would because this is definitely not a standalone book.
This was a fantastic book but hard to talk about since I don't want to give too much away so fair warning there may be spoilers in the next couple of paragraphs and if you don't want to have it spoiled I would avoid them and scroll to the bottom where I am having a contest for a gently used copy of Noah.

What would the most powerful of demons do if they had lost the other half of their soul? What would you do? Well this is the story of Noah the king of the demons and one of only three known fire demons which makes him very powerful and very how shall I put this well fiery is a good word. When he starts dreaming of his imprinted mate and does so for 6 months he gets very irritable. So irritable that finally his friends coerce him into having a session with Corrine who is a druid mate locator. In his first session with Corrine he locates his mate but due to circumstances learns that he may have lost her forever. Well with the unwilling help of certain folks he is able to bring her into his world.
But his troubles just begin with the arrival of his mate Kestra. She wants nothing to do with men nor demons. She is a mercenary just slightly on the side of right.
But if Noah and Kestra can work out their differences she'll be the perfect queen as well as his perfect mate but Noah sure has his work cut out convincing her of that. Sparks fly sometimes figuratively but mostly literally between these two stubborn, fiery personalities.

Now for the contest. Leave a comment on this post between now and Sunday Midnight and I'll draw for the winner of a gently used Noah. Sorry USA residents only. Maybe next time I can do everyone.

Mini Box giveaway from Vanilla Joy

Vanilla Joy is giving away a nifty scrapbook organization tool. It is called a Mini Box and I want one so bad my Back teeth ache. This would hopefully give me some organization and let me have everything in one place so I don't have to run all over the house.

The Mini Box is also not a bad looking piece of furniture.

Chris at Craftling's Cosy Corner is giving some nice scrapbook goodies and talking about using blog verification in order to post a comment on a blog. You can see it here
I completely agree with her that those skewed numbers and letters are a pain to try and figure out. And it takes longer to post to blogs and when you work, have a couple of kiddos, and two hobbies plus a liking for checking blogs and yahoo groups it cuts into the time I have to do things.

First post

Okay this is my first post obviously lol. Not too sure how good I am going to be at this but thought I'd give it a shot.

I am going to start with the book I read recently it was Wildcard by Lora Leigh. Darn her. She made me laugh, cry and want to punch someone. This has got to be one of the saddest romances I've ever read. But in the end as in all good romances things come out right. It definitely has a Hea for which I am eternally grateful. She also introduced some men in this book that I think should and will end up with their own books. If you like tearjerker books that just about tear your heart out before it give you a Hea then this book is for. But be warned you will need the kleenex close with this one.
