After being disowned and labelled human because she can’t shift, Betty Newman rescues unwanted dogs to fulfill her need for pack. Being rejected by her birth pack was enough pain for a lifetime and she’ll do anything to avoid subjecting herself to their prejudices.
Things change when Ken Birch wakes in her kennel still in wolf form and declares she’s his soul mate. His presence wakes her feral heart and makes her long for a life she can’t have. Old wounds are opened and she refuses to listen to instinct.
But only a shifter can be a soul mate and now her life is in danger by New Port’s pack. Either Betty learns to shift or she dies. Problem is the only one willing to help is Ken, the last person she wants.
Author Bio:
Annie Nicholas writes paranormal romance with a twist. She has courted vampires, hunted with shifters, and slain a dragon's ego all with the might of her pen. Riding the wind of her imagination, she travels beyond the restraints of reality and shares them with anyone wanting to read her stories. Mother, daughter, and wife are some of the other hats she wears while hiking through the hills and dales of her adopted state of Vermont.
Annie writes for Samhain Publishing, Carina Press, and Lyrical Press.
You don't become a hero for the money. The money's nice, sure, but you become a hero because something inside compels you, drives you to it. Defending people from monsters simply doesn't pay well enough to make it a good career move.
As for hunting dragons... well, the money is usually good, but the job really bites.
A group of five professional heroes goes into the lair of the dragon. Who will win?
Spoiler: The dragon.
But it turns out killing a hero sometimes does nothing more than make him even more determined.
Sometimes, heroes are never more dangerous than when they're dead!
Garon Whited was supposedly born in either 1969 or 1970; the original birth certificate is suspiciously unavailable and other records do not agree.
After spending some years in college playing with computers, he finally joined a radical group of jellyfish herding nomads. Having fought zombie dolphins, quasi-corporeal spirits, and brain-sucking mole rats, he is uniquely qualified to write fantastic fiction. His subsequent attempts at professional salsa repairman and ley line salesman met with similar success. He claims to live in Texarkana, on Earth, but people have been known to disagree.
Quinn Reynolds is desperate for answers. After a near fatal accident, Quinn’s life changes and she is suddenly plagued by dreams of ravens, magic, and a boy with copper-ringed eyes. Told by her doctors that she is delusional, Quinn travels to the Northwoods of Minnesota to find out the truth. But Quinn has another problem that she hasn’t shared. Not only does she dream of magic, she also possesses her own power as well and it scares the hell out of her.
Corbin Olsen has been battling his own demons for the last ten years. After sacrificing everything to save Quinn’s life, she forgot about him completely. He’s thought of her constantly in the years she’s been gone, but nothing prepared him for the woman she has become. Although angry at her for leaving him, Corbin isn’t able to dismiss his need for her.
But Corbin and Quinn are running out of time for a meaningful reunion, the real evil is back and hunting the prey that escaped them all those years ago.
Quinn had a special book, a book that had been with her since she was a teenager. This was the notebook that she kept all of her dream drawings in. Sometimes she would add words to the sketches and sometimes she wouldn’t. There were hundreds of drawings in this book, some the size of a quarter, and some – after a particular bad night of dreaming – took up an entire page of hard angry charcoal strokes.
That book was private, and Quinn kept it to herself. That was just for her. For so long she hadn’t been able to tell what was real and what was fantasy, thinking maybe she herself was just a figment of someone else’s imagination. Her sketchbook was Quinn’s way of knowing she was real. Maybe she had imagined seeing the things she saw, or knowing the things that she had forgotten, but she hadn’t fabricated drawing the pictures or writing the words. The pictures and words would always be there, permanently tattooed into the book. If she opened the pages and saw those things then she would know that in that very moment, she was present. She existed. She was.
Author Bio: Desiree lives in Northwest Ohio with her husband, two children, and two rowdy cats. She is a craft addicted, roller derby skating amateur foody who loves to enjoy a glass of chardonnay with a side of whatever snack the kids left untouched in the pantry, most likely goldfish crackers.
She writes contemporary and fantasy/paranormal romance because fairy tales are where it's at. She loves the pull of magic, the light and the dark of it, as well as the effort the characters must go through to reach their happily ever after.

Q: There are many books out there about….What makes yours different?
It’s true, there millions of books available in today’s market. It just to be that you could only go to a bookstore and find something of your choosing, or maybe the library to find that one book you’ve been waiting to come back. Now? Click here, and the book is immediately yours.
So what makes my book, Seven Threads, so different that you just HAVE to pick it up for yourself? Everything…
That’s a big claim, so allow me to explain.
It does not matter to me if you are a small time reader, or sit and swallow the entire shelf of books in a weekend – reader. This book was written for both. I like short stories because it allows someone to escape for a shorter amount of time, but then you can do it over and over again – 7 times to be exact, in my book of short stories.
Each type of reader can choose 3 to read a little, or a lot. I didn’t write Chapters, I wrote “Parts”. Each part is a bite out of the main story. So if you only have time for a quick read and you just need to see what happens next without having to commit, no problem. Each part is roughly the same length so it’s easy to sink your teeth in, or just nibble away.
And let’s not forget the stories themselves. They are all unique! Not one story is anything like the other. The only thing that you will find that “feels” similar is the fact that I woven in between the pages, a glimmer of hope for humanity. There is way too much negativity in the world and it’s seen more than books are read. So I knew with these stories I had to make them exciting with twists and turns (which they have), but I also needed to make sure that the goodness of humanity can be seen throughout.
This is a reminder to everyone that reads my stories in Seven Threads that people can be good. They can be kind and caring, and you don’t need to wear a red cape to do it!

it.

Library Journal raves the Sins Series is “…dark, seductive, and sexy as sin.” For readers who love paranormal romance and urban fantasy.
Dagan Krayl, the Underworld’s most powerful soul reaper, is the demigod son of the evil god Sutekh. He’s on a mission to find his murdered brother’s remains and resurrect him, but resurrection means that the secrets carried into death would be released and, with them, a war that could end gods and mankind alike.
Roxy Tam is searching for the same thing, but for completely different reasons. She means to make certain that the remains don’t fall into Sutekh’s hands, and that the soul reapers do not reanimate their fallen comrade. As a Daughter of Aset, Roxy is tasked with the protection of the human race, and if that means thwarting an all powerful soul reaper and making certain his dead brother stays dead, so be it. But when Roxy sees Dagan face-to-face, she realizes that she has met him once before—a meeting that changed her life forever.
Neither Dagan nor Roxy expects to join forces for the sake of mankind. Or to have their loyalties tested as they struggle against treachery, betrayal and the potent desire that threatens to consume them both.

Pandora is a Fairy Godmother who’s never fit in with her own people. Only she has the power…and the attitude, to step in and help those who others have decided aren’t worthy of a happy ending. How hard could it be to manipulate some of the most feared beings in their world?
Viktor has spent his entire un-dead life being the bogey man to the paranormal community and that’s the way he wants to keep it....with everyone else far away from him. When the opportunity arises to take his revenge on his nemesis, he can’t resist—even if it means risking his reputation and rescuing the damsel in distress.
Halle never expected to find herself in need of a savior, especially one with a reputation like Viktor’s. But she’s used to listening to her instincts and her cat trusts the strange woman who pops up and claims to have some solutions.
If a girl can’t trust her own Fairy Godmother, then what is this world coming to?
This is such a unique story! The blurb alone makes me want to read this book and once I started I couldn’t stop. The romance is both sweet and seriously hot. I’m thinking some ice water on the side while reading this story would not be a bad plan.
Viktor by Sarah Marsh is the first in the Happy Evil After series. I love this series!!! Dark fairies, humor, sizzling heat, and did I mention humor. This is one of those stories I did not want to end. I loved it and want more from this amazingly well written series. Bring on the dark fairies and the questionable paranormals Dori saves.

Take an inside look at Viktor. Read this sizzling excerpt from the book.
"I mean you no harm, lady. You can go. I'm only here for what's in the car," he said slowly walking towards her. She was a cute little thing, all soft curves with golden skin and hair.
"Ummm, yeah, about that … I'm what's in the car, Mr. Krescech. You have to take me with you out of here," she said almost nervously, those big green eyes pleading with him.
Clearly, she was also insane. What was with the women he was running into this week? Viktor had had more than his fair share of groupies throwing themselves at him in the bars, wanting to take a walk on the wild side for a few hours, but this wholesome little beauty certainly didn't look like the type, so he had no idea exactly what she was asking him for.
"I don't think so," he said, moving past her towards the open back door to search the car.
"Seriously, there's nothing else in the car. They were taking me from my family and my pard to be married to Conrad. I have to go with you to get away from him," she continued, putting her tiny little hands on her very curvy hips in a way that distracted him far more than it should have.
Interesting, so this little number was a leopard shifter? Viktor hadn't really had any interaction with the pard in this country, but by reputation, they were a good lot. Why on Earth would she agree to marry Conrad?
"I don't rescue damsels in distress. I eat them," he said with a flash of fang. "So run along, little kitten."
The tiny spitfire threw her hands dramatically up in the air and sighed loudly.
"You just saved me from a life of baby-making slavery. Aren't you supposed to whisk me away to your super-secret villain lair and ravish me? Sheesh, where's your follow-through?"
Viktor just stood there and stared at her for a moment. He didn't know whether to laugh at her ridiculous statement or take her up on her offer and bend her over right here on the trunk of Conrad's car. He was extremely turned on by the fact that she didn't seem the least bit afraid of him. He'd always tried to pretend that his reputation in the paranormal community pleased him, that it helped him by keeping the rabble away. But deep down it bothered him that everyone always thought the worst of him. His honor was just yet another thing that Melisandre and Conrad had stolen from him when they took his mortality.
"Don't you know who I am, woman?" he finally said as she just stood there looking at him expectantly.
"Yes, I know who you are. Who else is capable of keeping me out of Conrad's douchy hands?"
Sarah Marsh was born in British Columbia where she still lives, she has only recently began her writing career finding it the perfect outlet for taking the edge off a nine to five office job. She's been a science fiction and romance junkie for years and when her imagination started to take the characters she'd read about even further in their adventures she decided to try writing something of her own.
Sarah's also a former pastry chef and spends a lot of time cooking and baking for friends and family as well as painting and knitting. Her biggest weaknesses are animals of any kind…she even loves the ones that wake you up at four in the morning because they can almost see the bottom of their food dish.
When it comes to life in general she's a big believer that laughter is the best medicine and that there's no such thing as too much love, which is why she's such a sucker for a happy ending.
The Killer Instinct series from New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Eden continues as an FBI profiler tracks a case that resurrects ghosts from his past.
Ex-SEAL Tucker Frost knows that the world is full of evil. He saw it in the face of his own brother, Jason Frost, a cold, methodical, sadistic killer. A killer Tucker put down with his own hands in order to save Jason’s final victim—Dawn Alexander, the only girl who got away from the infamous “Iceman.”
It’s Tucker’s up close and personal experience with evil that’s made him perfect for Samantha Dark’s experimental profiling division in the FBI. Samantha wants agents who have personal ties with killers, who have unique insights into the minds of monsters. And when women start turning up murdered with the same MO used by the Iceman, Tucker is sent back to Louisiana to investigate.
The last person he expects to see is his ex-lover, Dawn. Ten full years have passed since the night that Tucker faced down his brother…and since he last saw Dawn. But the dark need still burns just as hot between Tucker and Dawn. As they grapple with a desire that never died, they must also face the shared shadow from their pasts. Both Tucker and Dawn have the same question—has Jason Frost come back from the dead to hunt again? And this time, will he succeed in killing the victim who got away?
Excerpt
Dawn took a step forward and she shut the door behind her.
Tucker kept his hands at his sides. He tried to figure out just what in the hell he was supposed to say to her. The silence stretched a little too long—uncomfortably long. Her gaze was on his face, sweeping over his features one at a time, and he knew what she was thinking.
I look even more like him now. Time had thinned his face more, hardened him, and when he looked in the mirror, most days Tucker swore he saw his brother staring back at him.
He cleared his throat. “You…you look good, Dawn.”
She blinked.
Shit. That had been the wrong thing to say. He wanted to yank his hand over his face or pace or do something to get rid of the fierce energy pulsing through him.
“That’s what you have to say to me? After all this time?” Her voice was still husky but he could have sworn he heard an echo of pain in it.
He’d always hated her pain.
“Why didn’t you come in there to tell me about this case?” She put her hands on her hips as she stared up at him. “Why send in your partner?”
He wouldn’t lie to her. “Because I knew you didn’t want to see me.” That was the same reason he’d left her so long ago. Why he hadn’t talked to her in the last seven years.
“You know bullshit.” She shook her head. Her blonde hair hit her sharp cheeks. “No, you just know your own fear. You don’t know anything about me or what I want.”
Her words surprised him and he took a quick step toward her. But…
She tensed. He saw it and the telling movement knifed right through him.
No, Dawn. I do know you. Better than you know yourself. I always knew you.
The problem was that she hadn’t truly known him. He’d been afraid for her to know the truth. He was still afraid. You won’t like who I really am.
“What’s happening in this city? Who killed that poor woman?”
“I don’t know.” He’d be finding out soon. “We thought you had a right to hear about the crime first, before any news leaked to the media.” He hadn’t wanted her learning about this killer when she turned on the five o’clock news.
“Maybe that’s true, but I also think you wanted to see my reaction. You know, just in case I’d gone psycho and started killing like Jason.” She pursed her lips, as if thinking about that situation. “What would that be? Some serious PTSD shit, right? Your buddy Macey sure acted as if it were a possibility.”
“Dawn…”
“He didn’t break me.” Her eyes glittered at him. “I get that you think he did. I get that you think I was so shattered by what happened that you left—”
“That wasn’t what—”
“But I’m stronger than he was. I’m stronger than you gave me credit for being.”
He’d always thought she was the strongest woman he’d ever met.
“I’m strong,” she said again, “and I want in on this investigation.”
It took a moment for her words to register. Then he could only blink and shake his head. “What?”
She pulled her ID out of the small bag that was slung over her shoulder. She advanced toward him and her scent—soft, vanilla—wrapped around Tucker, reminding him of things he should forget. Of things he had no business remembering right then. “I’m a PI now. A damn good one. I know this city, I know the people here, and I want in on the investigation.”
He glanced at her ID, but he’d already known she was a PI. He’d researched her… He’d peeked into her life many times over the years. He’d always thought that, one day, he’d check up on her and discover that she was married. That she had a family. That she was happy.
He’d both longed for her happiness and feared it. Because I couldn't imagine her with anyone else.
“I want in,” Dawn said again, her expression determined.
I love romantic suspense and this was a fantastic read and something of a tear jerker. My favorite type of romantic suspense is when we don't know who the killer is because I am pretty good at figuring out who done it. Buy Tricky Tricky Author you almost got me on this one. I kept dithering back and forth between two people and with one of the twists she almost fooled. Almost. But I was right in the end.
Dawn was a real survivor to the bone. And Tucker whoa nelly he is a fantastic hero. He gave Dawn what she needed no matter the cost to himself. Not sure how he didn't turn out to be a monstrous freak like the rest of his family. It was really surprising since Tucker was raised the same way as his brother "The Iceman". I am so glad that these two folks were able to get together in the end.
I give this story 5 stars and was given this book via Netgalley in consideration of a review and this in no way influenced my opinion of this book.
I've been reading Ms. Eden's romantic suspense since she started publishing it and she just keeps getting better and better. I look forward to reading all her books no matter the genre.

She’s furious when she wakes from her turning and discovers what Christian has done. She wants nothing to do with him ever again, but when she’s kidnapped by this angel of death and used as a guinea pig for deadly experiments she only has Christian to turn to save her life.
Nathan’s men rushed
inside, Christian at their heels. He flipped up his sunglasses and looked about
the inky darkness of a huge garage, plenty luminous for vampire eyes. Another
standard door led to the belly of the building in the far right corner. He
headed toward it, behind Nathan’s six men. Asa, Dominic and Nathan took up the
rear, single file behind him.
At this point most
everyone inside had surely heard the door come down. Christian needed to alert
Tiffany and make her ready for whatever transpired once they emerged into the
building’s interior.
We’re here. Get ready.
Say nothing and stay calm. I’ll be there before you know it.
You’re here? Thank God,
Christian.
Are you alone?
Yeah, I’m still alone
and tied down to this damned bed. My heart is about to beat out of my chest.
That’s my only tell, but no one except a vampire could here it.
I’ll hear it soon enough
and it will be music to my ears.
Be careful.
You too.
Two of Nathan’s men took
the battering ram to the interior door. Once it was relieved of it’s hinges,
Christian rushed inside behind four of Nathan’s men. He expected to be met by
the very least the brother armed to defend his turf, but instead two young thin
vampire girls with hideously gray skin and gaunt features stood in a long hall
just out a doorway to his right. The scent of chili wafted from the room, and
Christian assumed it to be a kitchen.
The two girls appeared
terrified, frozen in place, eyes wide and flitting from one armed man to
another.
“Hands in the air!” one
of the humans ordered.
They instantly obeyed.
Christian raised the
barrel of his gun toward the ceiling. These poor little things were no threat.
“Are you here by choice?” he asked them.
Both shook their heads,
still wearing petrified expressions.
“Take us to the four
women they brought here three days ago,” he demanded.
Just then a man walked
out the doorway, hands in the air. Christian saw a holstered gun on his hip.
The others must have too. Every man took aim on him with their weapons.
“Get down! Face down on
the floor. Hands behind your head!” two of the human men yelled.
He did their bidding
without a word. Seconds later he was swarmed by three humans, stripped of his
gun and handcuffed.
Christian glanced at Asa
who stared at the two frightened vampire girls with pity. He felt the same
emotion himself, but he needed them to lead him to Tiffany and the others.
“Where are the women?”
he asked again with less rancor.
The one closest to them
finally answered. “D-down this hallway, take a left and you’ll find them in the
curtained cubicles.”
Christian wanted to bolt
in the direction they’d indicated, but he held back, glanced at Asa then behind
him at Nathan, Dominic and Dimitri. They all wore an expression similar to what
was on his mind. This was just too damned easy.
“Are you Terry, Charla’s
brother?” Christian asked, stepping up to the head of the prone man who craned
his head to glare up at him with equal doses of hate and spite.
“How do you know my
name?”
“Never mind that. Get up
and lead us to the women.” Christian yanked him up and onto his feet so fast,
he’d probably dislocated his shoulder. A harsh grunt of pain said he was
correct, but he didn’t care. This man was part of this kidnapping and drugging
ring. He deserved a bullet between the eyes, but right now he’d serve just fine
as a hostage.
The young sickly girls
did not deserve such treatment. “Dominic, Dimitri, could you escort these young
ladies out of the building? That is if you want to leave. We’ll make sure you
get home, back to your lives, families, whatever.”
Both shook their heads
adamantly and the two men corralled them around the small posse in the entryway
then out of the building.
Christian shoved the
barrel of his gun against the man’s spine. “Lead us to them now.”
Terry, craned his head
back and gave him a look of disgust. “I’ll lead you right to them, vampire, but
it won’t do you any good. By now they’re all on their way out. I’m sorry about
that. I really am. I liked that one with the mouth.”
“Tiffany.”
“Yeah. That’d be the
one.”
“You’d better qualify
that comment and quick if you want to live. Where are they being taken?”
“I couldn’t answer that,
but maybe you can. Where do vampires go when they die?”
