Review: Diablo Lake: Protected

New York Times bestselling author Lauren Dane welcomes you back to Diablo Lake, Tennessee: a town founded by witches, governed by werewolves and full of secrets
Tensions are building in Diablo Lake as the two main rival Packs vie for control, and the town is divided along lines of Pack loyalty. Aimee Benton and Mac Pembry are on opposite sides and he seems to find excuses to spar with her daily. He's infuriating—not to mention charming, gorgeous and oh-so-lickable.
Mac can't resist pushing Aimee's buttons. She's always been incredibly sexy, and the wolf in him craves a female with fire in her belly. When a heated argument ends with a sizzling kiss and Mac gets a taste of her, he craves more—and she can't seem to get enough of him, either. The forbidden nature of their attraction stokes their desires until they're secretly hooking up whenever they can.
But then Mac's clan goes too far, and Aimee shuts him out. She's hurt and angry—but that's nothing compared to the rage Mac is feeling toward his own Pack. A fight is brewing that will plunge the whole town into chaos, and someone will have to cross Pack lines to keep the town's fragile peace from breaking apart for good.

If you like well written, funny, action packed shifter books look no further. This book also has witches but not the traditional magic wielding ones. They seem to follow the do no harm mantra and their magic is tied to the land and the protection of the town and its people. This book had me snickering one minute and swearing the next. I wanted to smack some folks in the worst way during this book. Amy and Mac's chemistry is off the charts and she gives him balance. They just get each other. And of course the cast of secondary characters is always fantastic. That is one of the things I love about reading a Lauren Dane book. You find so many characters that you want to have their own story. And thankfully she usually obliges.

I was given this book via Netgalley in consideration of a review. I give this one 4 stars. If you are looking for a good series give these a try. Here are the links to Amazon.

Review: Diablo Lake: Moonstruck by Lauren Dane

In Diablo Lake, Tennessee, a town populated by werewolves, witches and more, magic woven deep into the earth protects the town's secrets from outsiders.

Katie Grady left Diablo Lake to get over a humiliating breakup. But her family needs her help, so she's back, in a sublet right across the hall from the guy she's lusted after for years. Jace Dooley is hotter than ever, and their friendship picks up along with massive doses of grown-up chemistry.

The very scent of Katie sharpens Jace's canines, makes the wolf within him stir. There's nothing more alluring to a Pack Alpha than a sexy female who is so very in charge. She won't be coddled, but if he plays his hand just right she might be convinced to become his.

Katie presents a challenge to Jace's wolf nature, whose chief instinct is to protect. Especially now that she's coming into the magic that is her birthright—and suddenly Jace isn't the only one who's interested in Katie or the raw power she's just learning to use.

As a long time reader of Ms. Dane's books I was tickled to see a new were series from her. And this had one of my favorite paranormals. I so love books about witches.. And this was an excellent read. Katie Faith is a fantastic heroine. She smart, funny, loyal and sassy as all get out. And oohlala I'd be tickled to find me a mate like Jace. He's everything a were leader should be.and great man for a mate.

Now we can't say that about Darrell Pembry. He is a total jackass. Him and his parents too. I am so glad that Katie Faith gave him what for. Can't say I blame her. Between him and his mama Scarlet they treat Katie Faith awful. And they way his mama talks about Jace and Jace's dad who is not spoken about wasn't nice atall. My only complaint is that we never found out what Jace's dad did that had Scarlet so wound up and got him killed.

This book ends in a HEA but there are threads of story woven in that aren't completely resolved. I am hopeful we find out more about what happened with Jace's daddy because Jace's and the rest of his siblings need to know and that the animosity between the Dooley's and the Pembrey's is lessened.

I give this book 4 stars and I was glad I had the next book in the series because I started reading it immediately. I was given this book via Netgalley in consideration of a review. If you like sassy, smart heroines and strong, sexy alphas with a cast of characters who had me snickering, swearing, and cheering through the whole book click on the link and purchase your own copy.

Review: Wolf's Ascension by Lauren Dane

Attacked by werewolves. Mated to the Alpha. Declared a queen. Kari is having an unusual day.

In the Cherchez wolf pack, loyalty is earned, not given. For Andreas, the pull he feels toward Kari cannot be ignored, a physical bond immediate and unbreakable—though Andreas wants to win Kari’s heart as well as her body. But someone isn’t happy about his new mate, and Kari’s just beginning to trust him and the pack when attempted murder threatens their new found happiness.

Andreas brings out the deepest hunger in Kari, a sexy, passionate side of herself she never knew was there. And her new life as werewolf queen is turning out to be surprisingly emotional in other ways, as well. The bond she feels with Andreas extends to the others in the pack—others she’s now bound to defend.

And as the pack’s enemies are about to discover, Kari will do anything to protect her new family.

REVIEW:

I've read this series by Lauren Dane before and I loved it then and I still loved it this time. Kari is an amazing heroine. She's smart, ballsy, funny and loyal to a fault. She is dropped liked Alice into wonderland and quite understandably is completely freaked out by it. Andreas is a wonderful hero and fantastic alpha but quite discombobulated with finding his mate and her being changed without his say so and ahead of schedule. After finally showing Kari that werewolves are real she calms down somewhat and starts falling in love with Andreas and his pack. And just when everything is going smooth a psychopathic killer shows up to play and wants to play with Kari. I love the amazing feeling of family in this series. And the action in this book made for a wonderful read. I give this book 5 stars and if you've not read it you need to. And the others in this series are a must read also. There are several characters in this series that didn't get books before and I'm hoping with crossed fingers and toes that she does so in the near future.
I was given this book via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Review: At Blade's Edge by Lauren Dane

CARINA_1015_97814592#EA282CRowan Summerwaite is no ordinary woman. Raised at the knee of The First and honed into a weapon by the Hunter Corporation, she wields ancient knowledge from the Goddess Brigid…and is newly married to a powerful Vampire scion.
Though she’d hoped the deadly events in Venice would end the threat to The Treaty she is sworn to protect, Rowan found evidence of a grander conspiracy to destroy the fragile peace that holds humans, Vampires and those with magic back from war. A war that would only hurt the weakest and destabilize the world as we know it.
It’s not so much that someone ordered her assassination that makes her angry—people try to kill her all the time—as it is the risks those she cares for, especially her new husband, now face. Clive Stewart has never tried to pen Rowan in or control her choices. He has his own fires to put out now that he’s married to the most powerful non-Vampire in their world, and Rowan knows it’s a challenge to support her the way she needs while not being too much or not enough.
The organization that gave her a purpose, a home, roots and a path when she’d run from The Keep at seventeen has betrayed her. Now, instead of on a much-anticipated honeymoon, Rowan is in London gathering her allies and the evidence necessary to drive out the rot within Hunter Corp. and expose whoever is at the top.
Rowan is a predator and this threat is prey. She’ll burn it down and salt the earth afterward. On her terms.

Its been a while since I've read the first few stories in this series and I think I've actually missed one. But this didn't effect me in reading this story. I was able to read this story and wasn't confused at all.  Rowan is fantastic heroine. She smart, ballsy, and honorable. And while we didn't get as much of Clive in this one I quite liked him. Especially the way he treated Rowan. His parents were great too especially his mama. Even if his uncles were butt heads. I am going to go back and do a reread on these as soon as the next one comes out which I hope is real soon. I wasn't very happy with the ending of this one because it ended sort of abruptly. Granted she did clean house but it left you with a lot of questions. And IMO it was a something of a cliffhanger. So if you have issues with that you might want to wait until the next one comes out which I am hoping fixes that. I understand that there was happy with Clive and a house cleaning but dang it the situation at the end was awful and unresolved. When I read the last page I thumbed to the next one and there was not more. I went WTH. Really? And it was really true. It completely left me hanging. So with that all being said I give this a book 4 stars. Loved the story and these characters and world but dog gone it I didn't think the story was finished. Looking forward to the next one in this series and hoping that it resolves the unresolved.

Review: Goddess With a Blade by Lauren Dane

Product Description

Rowan Summerwaite is no ordinary woman. Physical vessel to the Celtic Goddess Brigid and raised by the leader of the Vampire Nation, she's a supercharged hunter with the power to slay any vampire who violates the age-old treaty.

A recent string of murders has her at odds with Las Vegas's new Scion, the arrogant and powerful Clive Stewart. The killings have the mark of Vampire all over them, and Rowan warns Clive to keep his people in line—or she'll mete out her own brand of justice.

Though her dealings with Clive are adversarial to say the least, Rowan is intensely aware of her attraction to him. But she can't let it distract her from her duty—to find and battle the killer before more women die

I love Lauren's take on vampires. Its very fresh and different what with an agreement between the vamps and the hunters. Very different indeed. And with the addition of who raised Rowen and her family history it makes for one conflicted heroine which I liked. And Clive he's very arrogant and sure of himself which makes Rowan either want to kill him or kiss him. Sometimes its a toss up as to which way she'll go lol.

If you like Lauren's other books you'll like this one too. It was a very good story with great characters. I didn't think her characters were as fleshed out as some of her other books and that her secondary characters weren't as good in this book as some of her others like her Chance series but this was still a good book. I give it 3 1/2 stars

I received a copy of this one from Netgalley for review purposes only and no other consideration.

Mini Revew: Insatiable by Lauren Dane

Desire is the most dangerous sensation of all.

With tensions between the Federation and Imperial `Verses rising, one woman may hold the key to victory. The dangerous mission to smuggle her out of Imperial Territory falls to Daniel Haws and his team, the ultra secret Phantom Corps. This elite squad of the Federation Military is the only one trusted and skilled enough to remove her from under the watchful eye of her father, the Supreme Commander of the Imperial `Verses.

Carina is used to wearing a mask. Her father and his men think her little more than a pretty prize to be won by a man more ruthless than the rest. When he announces his intention to marry her to one of his henchmen, a man known for his cruelty, Carina knows she has to move as soon as possible to get out. But getting secret information to the Federation has served her well for years and she appeals to them for help.

She expected rescue from a man who'd been her enemy. But she wasn't prepared for just how intense her attraction to Daniel Haws would be. Born as adversaries into different ranks, and on the run for their lives, they now need each other to survive-by holding on to the only thing they have in common: a growing desire that is dangerous, irresistible, and insatiable...

As always Lauren rocks my world with her books. I absolutely adore her Federation series. Scifi, feisty heroines, and sexy heroes what more could a girl ask.  This book is the best of the bunch. If you read this series and have been wanting more Daniel. This book is for you. Go run read this series cause you want be disappointed. I can't wait for the next one.

I bought this one and rate it 4 1/2 stars.
