Review: Archangel's Viper by Nalini Singh

Enter New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh's breathtakingly passionate Guild Hunter world with the story of a woman who isn't a vampire or an angel...or human...

Once a broken girl known as Sorrow, Holly Chang now prowls the shadowy gray underground of the city for the angels. But it's not her winged allies who make her a wanted woman--it's the unknown power coursing through her veins. Brutalized by an insane archangel, she was left with the bloodlust of a vampire, the ability to mesmerize her prey, and a poisonous bite.

Now, someone has put a bounty on her head...

Venom is one of the Seven, Archangel Raphael's private guard, and he's as infuriating as he is seductive. A centuries-old vampire, his fangs dispense a poison deadlier than Holly's. But even if Venom can protect Holly from those hunting her, he might not be able to save himself--because the strange, violent power inside Holly is awakening...

No one is safe.

I know I say this every time but this is my absolute favorite Nalini Singh book. I didn't think i would like Viper but dayumn he is perfect for Holly.  He can be an ass a sexy one but an ass none the less and he is great to have in your corner. And he treats Holly like an equal and unbroken which is what she needs. And Holly might be a newbie paranormal but she is powerful and growing more so  If they can avoid the people who are trying to kill her then they just might get their happy every after. Unless Holly grows too powerful and Raphael has to put her down that is if Elena would let him.

I bought this book with my own money and i give it 5 stars plus. If you want you can buy your own cluck here

Review: Broken Angel by Cynthia Eden

What happens when an angel falls? Find out in Book 4 of Cynthia Eden’s “Bad Things” series, BROKEN ANGEL.
Angel Lila is being hunted—she can feel the hunter closing in behind her. Every move she makes, he’s stalking after her. But does the werewolf on her trail want to destroy her—or can he protect her from the growing darkness that she is trying so desperately to fight?
Werewolf Rayce Lovel doesn’t know what to do with an angel—especially one who makes him think too much about paradise. Lila may be heavenly, but every time he’s near her, Rayce wants to sin. Angels aren’t supposed to feel, but Lila was introduced to the world by way of pain. Pain is all she’s known for far too long, and now, Rayce is tempted to introduce gorgeous Lila to pleasure.
But the longer an angel stays out of heaven, the more dangerous she can become. Lila sinks deeper into the darkness with each night that passes, and she finds herself becoming a pawn in an eternal battle…good versus evil. Is Rayce really her protector? Perhaps he is just the hungry wolf who has been sent to ensure that Lila never sets foot back in her paradise.
A fallen angel has a bad side…and that side is about to be set free.
This book was veeerrry interesting.  It has an alpha werewolf and an angel. Lila was an angel who was kidnapped and tortured by a power hungry madman. And she got away when the good guys saved the day. Rayce is tasked with bringing her back.  He catches up to her about the same time the only other fallen angel does.
Rayce has to deal with Kale (the fallen angel) trying to get Lila along with getting her to trust him. And as she starts to he's forced to break her trust but it's truly for her own good. Naturally she's doesn't agree with that.
But everything turns out alright in the end and she Rayce and the rest manage to knock off Kale.  It requires a big sacrifice on Rayce's part but he's willing to pay it for Lila's sake. I am hoping that we get Leo's book soon. He needs his. Not sure if I mean the love of his life or his comeuppance or both lol.
I give was given this book by the author in consideration of a review and I give it 5 stars. If you've not read this series what are you waiting for. They are excellent reads. Don't believe me do the one click think and see for yourself.

Review: Archangel's Heart by Nalini Singh

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh takes us into a dangerous and exhilarating world where a deadly, beautiful archangel and his once-mortal consort are caught in a fury of twisted darkness…
One of the most vicious archangels in the world has disappeared. No one knows if Lijuan is dead or has chosen to Sleep the long sleep of an immortal. But with her lands falling into chaos under a rising tide of vampiric bloodlust, a mysterious and ancient order of angels known as the Luminata calls the entire Cadre together to discuss the fate of her territory.
Accompanying her archangelic lover Raphael to the Luminata compound, guild hunter-turned-angel Elena senses that all is not as it seems. Secrets echo from within the stone walls of the compound, and the deeper Elena goes, the uglier the darkness. But neither Raphael nor Elena is ready for the brutal truths hidden within—truths that will change everything Elena thinks she knows about who she is…
Nothing will ever be the same again.

This book starts out with the Cascade on pause and Elena and Raphael along with everyone else waiting for the other shoe to drop. And after the Luminata orders the Cadre to show up at their remote location it does. This was the first time that Elena had heard of the Laminata and she was interested to go because they were located near Morocco which was where her maman was from. She wanted to see if she find anything about her mother's history. So off they go.

When they arrive it isn't long before they figure out all is not as it seems with the Luminata and something is up with the head guy. He reacts to Elena strangely and Elena quickly figures out that there used to be woman there that looked remarkably like her. Between that and the way the town nearest the compound reacts when they visit she begins investigating the mystery. And I don't think anyone was prepared for what they found. I want reveal what that is just suffice to say it was life changing for Elena.

I loved this book and I really liked to learn about both Elena and Rafael's past in this story. I give this story 5 stars and was given it via Netgalley for consideration of a review.  And I am so looking forward to reading Sparkle's book. Sound like it is going to be very emotional.

Book Tour: First Circle Club by Alex Siegel

Supernatural Fantasy
Date Published: September 25, 2015

When Virgil is betrayed and murdered, he thinks his days of catching fugitives as a U.S. Marshal are over. He is condemned to an eternity of filing paperwork in the First Circle of Hell. Then a demon lord gives Virgil an unprecedented assignment. He will return to Earth as part of a team: two souls from Heaven and two from Hell. They must stop another damned soul who escaped and is now murdering teenagers on Earth. The serial killer has supernatural skills and is part of a larger conspiracy which is well prepared for a fight. If he is not careful, Virgil could be murdered a second time.

Excerpt:

The angel touched down lightly on the sand. A supremely beautiful face made Sara want to cry with joy.
"I am Barachiel, chief of the guardian angels. You are Sara Bass?"
Sara nodded. "What can I do for you?"
"The Lords of Hell screwed up and allowed an evil soul to escape to Earth. Now we have to clean up their mess."
"Oh. Sounds awful. What do you want me to do?"
"Go back to Earth as part of a search team," Barachiel said. "The soul belongs to a serial killer, and he has started to kill again. It's a uniquely important assignment."
"I guess you know my background. I was a medical examiner for many years."
"We picked you because of your background."
"We?" Sara said.
"The Council of Light."
The enormous magnitude of the situation was dawning on Sara. Of all the many millions of souls in Heaven, the Council had chosen her to return to Earth.
"Does this kind of thing happen often?"
"It has never happened before," Barachiel said. "This search team concept is completely new. It might be a disaster, but we don't have any other options. Regular angels aren't suited for something like this. Hell is sending its own representatives. Try to be polite even if they smell bad."
Sara wrinkled her nose.
"And of course, you can come back to Heaven any time you want," Barachiel added. "If the job proves too much for you, we can find a replacement."
"I'm sure that won't be necessary." Sara was looking forward to doing something useful again. "But how did this happen? I didn't think it was possible to escape from Hell."
Barachiel shrugged its beautiful shoulders. "I'm sure incompetence was the cause. Demons are so consumed by sinful thoughts they can't think clearly. Regardless, it's a big mess now. With all the bickering and accusations, you would think the Apocalypse had arrived."
Sara doubted the explanation was so simple.

Author Interview and giveaway: The Wings of War Series by Karen Ann Hopkins

Wings of War Series by Karen Ann Hopkins
Genres: Dystopian, Paranormal, Young Adult

Blurbs:
Embers
There are descendants of angels walking among us. Ember is one of them.
Embers is an epic paranormal adventure/romance about a seventeen year old girl who discovers that she’s immune to fire and any other injury when she’s in a horrific car crash that kills her parents. Following a violent episode with her aunt’s boyfriend, Ember flees Ohio to live with an old relative in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Ember’s exuberance at escaping a bad home life soon turns to trepidation when she learns that she’s a Watcher, a descendant of angels.
While Ember is instructed about her heritage and the powers that go along with it, she strikes up friendships with two teenagers who live in a frightening walled compound in the forest. Inexplicitly drawn to one of the young men in particular, an impossible romance develops. But it’s cut short when Ember discovers that her new friends are fighting on the opposite side of a war that’s been raging between two factions of Watchers for thousands of years. When the compound’s inhabitants threaten the townspeople, Ember takes action, sealing her fate in the ancient battle of good versus evil, and the grayness in between. Ember is up to the challenge, until she realizes that she isn’t only fighting for the lives of the locals and the souls of her new friends. She may be one of the few champions willing to make a stand for all of mankind as the rapture approaches and the end of days begin.
Embers is the first novel in the dark and gritty YA paranormal romance series, The Wings of War.
Gaia
Watchers and Angels are at war. Which side will Ember choose?
Humankind is on the precipice of the apocalypse.

As the Demons grow bolder and the walls between the planes of existence weaken, Ember is forced to develop her powers as quickly as possible, and she seeks out a powerful earth Watcher to continue her supernatural lessons. Her glimpse of the future demands she fight the dark forces spreading across the earth.

But her new mentor has his own agenda, making her question everyone and everything she ever trusted.

When Ember is thrust into the world of the Watchers, she learns of their plans—ones that defy the scripture and make them enemies of the Celestial Host. Ridding the world of evil gets complicated when it becomes impossible to take sides.

As Ember struggles with morality, she soon discovers that there’s something more frightening than anything she’s faced before.

Tempest
Ember must stop the apocalypse from happening, but at what cost?

The Angels of destruction have arrived, and only Ember stands in the way of their mission to carry out God’s wrath and annihilate His enemies.

When the barrier between celestial creatures and humans beings is broken and Angels descend to Earth, Ember soon learns there’s a fine line between good and evil. As she faces a world full of monsters and magic, a terrifying darkness rises and threatens to destroy everything she’s fighting for.

In the riveting third installment of The Wings of War series, Ember and her friends embark on an epic journey, where unlikely allies are forged and age-old beliefs crumble to dust. And just when Ember accepts love in her life, it’s ripped away from her in the most terrifying way possible.
Author Interview

1.      Where/how did you come up with the idea for your story? Did it suddenly pop into your head or were you brainstorming?

Embers was a daydream of mine for many years before I wrote the story. It wasn’t until after I published the Temptation series was published with Harlequin Teen that I felt confident enough to make it real.

2.      Did you start with the main character, the world or the overarching concept?

I envisioned creatures and people with unusual powers living in the secluded mountains of eastern Tennessee. The forest, rugged terrain and mountain people set the stage for the rest of the story.

3.      Panster or Plotter? Or in between?

I’m more in between. It’s important to think a story out thoroughly before diving in and I do that by picturing the scenes running through my mind as if they were on a movie screen. I take notes and set up a basic timeline before I begin writing. The process of preparation might take a month or many months of having the story floating around in my mind before I’m ready to commit to it to the page. Once I get started, I don’t stop to edit or revise. I continue writing with a stream of consciousness until the book is finished. Then I go back and fix the mistakes and any issues that popped up along the way. Too many writers get stuck on a certain page, trying for perfection early on. I’ve found that once you get further into the story, it begins to tell itself and the flow is smoother and steadier.

4.      Are you a fan of writing contests?

I’ve never entered one, so I guess not. ;)

5.      How did you find your agent? How many query letters did you send?

My first novel, Temptation, was rejected about thirty times before I was finally offered representation by Christina Hogrebe of the Jane Rotrosen Agency in New York. But to be fair to the first agents I submitted the story to, the manuscript evolved through the process, getting much better along the way. It was eventually worthy of representation by the time it reached Christina. Many of the agents who rejected it offered me sound advice, which I took. I incorporated their suggestions into the story, making changes and revising until it was in great shape. I always had a unique story. It just needed work to make it marketable.

6.      What's the best marketing tool you've found so far?
Bookbub. Definitely. I’ve been lucky enough to land two promotions with the company, one for Lamb to the Slaughter and the other for Embers. These sales resulted in tens of thousands of purchases and downloads of my books. My fan base grew, as did my online review numbers, and my placement in the rankings rose. No other promotion or marketing strategy I’ve done has come close to a Bookbub promotion.

7.      What do you like best about your mc?

Ember is a strong young woman who is kind, loyal and loves animals. These are all traits that I admire.

8.      What do you like best about your main antagonist?

In Embers, the antagonists were Garrett and his demon followers. They were pretty scary characters and I was satisfied that they were great representatives for the evil rising up in the world. In Gaia, I like that it’s more a question of WHO are the antagonists in the story.

9.      Anything else you like to share about your journey or your upcoming launch, including links to giveaways or ways people can help spread the word?

The Wings of War is an epic young adult fantasy/paranormal that I believe readers of all ages will enjoy. I ask that fans let their friends know about it, and it greatly helps the cause when you post your honest ratings/reviews on Amazon. This is the most important place to give a shout out for your favorite stories and authors.

I love to connect with readers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or at www.karenannhopkins.com. Please be on the lookout for the release of ETERNITY, the fourth installment in the Wings of War series in December! Thanks for reading!
