Review : Unraveled by Jennifer Estep

Elemental Assassin SeriesBook #15
Genre: Urban Fantasy
BookRelease Date: Aug. 30, 2016
Note: This contains some major spoilersfrom Bitter Bite, book #14. So if you haven’t read that far in the series yet, you may want to avoid reading the description below.
What could go wrong when you’re trying to unravel a decades-old conspiracy?
As the current queen of the Ashland underworld, you would think that I, Gin Blanco, would know all about some secret society controlling things from behind the scenes. I might be the Spider, the city’s most fearsome assassin, but all my Ice and Stone elemental magic hasn’t done me a lick of good in learning more about “the Circle”. Despite my continued investigations, the trail’s gone as cold as the coming winter.
So when Finnegan Lane, my foster brother, gets word of a surprising inheritance, we figure why not skip town for someplace less dangerous for a few days? That place: Bullet Pointe, a fancy hotel resort complex plus Old West theme park that Finn now owns lock, stock, and barrel. At first, all the struttin’ cowboys and sassy saloon girls are just hokey fun. But add in some shady coincidences and Circle assassins lurking all around, and vacationing becomes wilder—and deadlier—than any of us expected.
Good thing this assassin brought plenty of knives to the gunfight …

You can always expect a rollicking good read from a book about Gin Blanco aka The Spider and this didn't disappoint. Fair warning if you've not read the previous books you probably won't enjoy this book as much and if you haven't read them why the heck not. I love Gin because she's usually the most paranoid beyotch on the planet. But I believe I surpassed her in this book. Because I just knew that something was going to happen to them in that darn park. And it did and I nailed it. lol. I was flabbergasted that she wasn't paranoid enough to catch on. But even so she was able to do what she does best which is what I call kill them all and let God sort them out. Well with one notable exception but I'm sure he'll show up again soon and she'll get another chance lol.

I was given this ARC from Netgalley in consideration for a review. I give this one 4 stars. It would have been 5 but in this story Gin wasn't written with the same level of intelligence and paranoia as in previous books. And it almost cost her more than she'd have wanted to lose.  I am impatiently waiting for the next story in this series and am glad Ms Estep is adding some stories for the other characters in this series.
